Joey:"What is your viewpoint on why the Japanese chose pearl harbor to attack."
John Polter:"It was one of the strongest and well supplied bases in the U.S. at the time, if the Japanese could disable it, they believed it would give them a six month head start in the war."
Joey: "How bad was the overall destruction at the harbor after the bombing"
John Polter:"The Japanese attack on pearl harbor appeared to be aimed at the ships and airplanes, they left many ships and planes destroyed and useless. Also the hangars and the army air stations were heavily machine-gunned and bombed."
Joey:"What did pearl harbor look like after the bombing."
John Polter:"It was a complete disaster! Many fires and entire squadrons of u.s. fighters were destroyed and burning on the ground before we even had time to react!"

Joey:" What were the next few days like after the Pearl Harbor attacks?"
John Polter:"Well I remember that next day hearing on the radio how President F.D.R had already presented his speech before congress. And in a short time following that, I remember they pretty much declared war on Japan."
Joey:"If you had to take one thing out of this event what would it be?"
John Polter:"(He chuckles) That would be not to sleep on duty!"
